Massage Therapy Awareness Week (MTAW) is an opportunity to celebrate the profession, educate the public about massage therapy, and highlight the many ways massage therapy can support people throughout their lives.

There’s no one right way to participate. Whether you have five minutes to share a post, an afternoon to connect with colleagues, or time to host a larger event, there’s a way to make MTAW your own.

Get Involved Your Way

Celebrating MTAW doesn’t have to mean planning a big event. Here are a few simple ways to get involved:

  • Share something: Post an RMTAO MTAW resource, graphic, video, or fun fact on social media. You can also share your own story about becoming an RMT or what massage therapy means to you.
  • Connect with colleagues: Meet fellow RMTs or massage therapy students for coffee and use our “Massage Therapy Is…” poster as a conversation starter.
  • Host a gathering: Invite patients, community members, colleagues, or other health professionals to learn more about massage therapy, ask questions, and connect with RMTs.
  • Open your doors: Host a clinic open house with tours, educational activities, refreshments, demonstrations, or opportunities to meet your team.
  • Celebrate all week: Share educational content, highlight different areas of massage therapy, tell your story, and encourage others to participate.

Use RMTAO Resources

The RMTAO will be sharing resources and content throughout MTAW to help you celebrate at your clinic, with colleagues, in your community, or online.

Look for educational content about the history of massage therapy in North America, fun facts, different areas of the profession, and more. Share these resources with your patients and community, use them as conversation starters, or simply post them online.

We’ve put together a full MTAW guide with more ideas and practical suggestions for activities of all sizes — from five-minute social media activities to clinic open houses and community events.

And don’t forget to download the “Massage Therapy Is…” poster to use at your clinic, gathering, classroom, or community event.

However you choose to participate, every conversation, post, and connection helps raise awareness of massage therapy and celebrate the RMT profession.
