Colleen's Story

Colleen had hip and lower back pain for almost two years, and the discomfort and worry it was causing began to wreak havoc on her mental health. It also meant that she was not able to be as active and athletic as she once was. She had x-rays, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) trying to figure out what to do about her pain. She did not find any relief until she was referred to massage therapy.

“Through treatments and exercises, I felt like I could move freely once again,” Colleen said. Colleen greatly enjoys many aspects of her massage therapy treatment. She has experienced reduced pain and pain-free movement since beginning massage therapy treatment. She also appreciates how good she feels after a massage therapy treatment.

“I feel so relaxed – almost groggy in a good way,” Colleen said. “I drive home without my cell phone on, completely in tune with how good I feel.”

In the future, Colleen intends to continue to make massage therapy a priority in her health care plan. She understands the importance that massage therapy will have to her as she ages. She hopes that she will always be able to access to massage therapy care, as she knows how difficult it would be if she could not access massage therapy care.

It is good for my overall mental health, which is good for me and my family.“I would be devastated if I could not access massage therapy treatment,” Colleen said. “My RMT gave me hope, and massage continues to make me aware of how I need to treat myself.”

In addition to accessing massage therapy care for herself, Colleen has encouraged her husband and her parents to access massage therapy care as well. She also has incorporated massage therapy into her children’s health care and hopes that is something they carry into the future for themselves. She would also encourage anyone to try massage therapy care.

“If you have struggled with pain or movement, it may change your life for the better. I would be willing to bet money on it,” Colleen said.

Colleen will continue with massage therapy treatment as long as she can, and she hopes it will help her have a better understanding of how to keep herself in good shape.

“It is good for my overall mental health, which is good for me and my family,” Colleen said.
